OUTFOXED

Robert Greenwald's documentary takes issue with the Fox News slogan "fair and balanced", which has been stamped across the network's 24-hour news programs since its launch in 1996. Greenwald uses large amounts of footage from Fox News, which is run by Rupert Murdoch's media juggernaut, News Corporation, and then provides the critical analysis and counterpoint.  Outfoxed also comments on the media's role in a democracy. Warp the media, Greenwald believes, and you warp the democratic process.

THE FUTURE OF FOOD

"Someone needed to make this film, because if this technology isn't challenged and if this corporatization of our whole food system isn't stopped, at some point it will be too late," says filmmaker Garcia.  Genetically engineered foods have quietly slipped into much of the American food supply, mostly from corn and canola. They're in an estimated 60 percent of all processed foods. The film uses archival footage and interviews with farmers and agriculture experts to argue that genetically engineered foods are jeopardizing our food safety.

THE NEVER NEVER WATER

Midway between reportage and narrative story-telling, this documentary tells the story of Moussa, a water-seller in the capital city of Burkina Faso, West Africa.  The search for water is an exhausting and never-ending chore for many across Africa.  The story unfolds as people crowd around wells waiting hours to fill a few buckets of water.  Some in the community learn that the government, pressured by the World Bank, plans to sell their water services to a large foreign transnational corporation.  Thus unfolds a new chapter of drama and struggle.

SHOCKING AND AWFUL

“Shocking and awful” is the way many people view the U.S. war in Iraq. The war continues to take its toll on Iraqi civilians, international aid workers, journalists and U.S. troops. Here at home we are seeing how waging a “perpetual war” is affecting our own lives as well.  The film takes an unflinching look at the destruction, suffering and chaos wrought by the war in Iraq. SHOCKING AND AWFUL was produced by independent video activists who believe that building a just world is the way to combat terror.
